I was raised in an environment where my best was never good enough. It created in me perfectionism and standards that were difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. Comparing myself to these standards meant that I was never enough nor would I ever be. When I removed my perfectionism, suddenly the scale was weighed in my favor. I could start to recognize all the things that I did right rather than all the things that didn’t measure up.
